Antigua and Barbuda (Press Release) May 2, 2008 --
The Facebook group evolved in December 2007 and is linking Dejammers and aspiring Dejammers across the globe from Miami to Barbados, London to Antigua. With nearly 600 signed up within five months, the social networking site allows members to connect with each other and invite their friends to learn more about the memorable event where over twenty celebrity DJs play at stunning locations including exclusive beaches, catamaran cruises, and sunset parties.
“This is a grassroots movement which allows the partygoers themselves to build momentum for the event, get news and information from their peers, connect with the DJs, and also provides a forum for them to say what they want for the event in 2008” said Festival organiser Anthony Brightly.
Corinna Blackman and CharChar Grant, coordinators of the online group and regular attendees of the DeJam Festival now in its fifth year, say the Internet site is allowing people who met at the event in Antigua to maintain their frienships and link up at events in the UK. “A number of DeJam Festival parties are springing up in London hosted by DJs who have played at the Festival and are building their own fan base for this year’s event,” commented Corinna. Char Char agreed and added “A popular feature is the photo gallery where Dejammers post their pictures of all the happennings of previous years which is encouraging those who haven’t been yet to book their flights right now. It’s keeping the enthusiam going through the year until we can meet again in Antigua. People just want to be part of this.”
The fifth DeJam Festival takes place in the paradise island of Antigua from September 26 to October 3 2008 with DJs StoneLove, Heartless Crew, Robbo Ranks, Gents, Supa D, Unique Family, Company Soul Sound, Special Touch, Studio Express 625, Sir Vennom, Tyson & DJ Corey, and Rocky Boss already confirmed.
