United States of America (Press Release) May 3, 2008 --
It is very disturbing to hear that another teen or friend of the family has died due to supplement abuse. Coaches force it on their players and encourage them to use illegal steroids with a train to gain mentality. There seems to be no regard in this matter for the health of a human being but rather the hope of another trophy, or state championship to line the walls of the halls at high schools across the country. One former athlete with unnecessary injuries due to improper training and supplement abuse is quoted as saying "I wish I would have known the truth about this stuff before i destroyed my body." This is a growing problem due to the risks of supplement abuse. The pressure to perform at all costs is something that we should seriously investigate. Being a former athlete that had hopes and dreams of a career in the NFL, I could have avoided the numerous knee problems, and back problems i have suffered over the years due to supplement abuse and improper training if i could realize one thing, that only 1% of all collegiate players make it to the big show.
I dream of the day that we will no longer hear these disturbing words another death caused by supplement abuse.
