United States of America (Press Release) May 5, 2008 --
San Diego, California. May 6, 2008. The Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) has announced that the topic of its 2008 Think Tank is Hitting the Wall: Preventing the Fallout from Extreme Productivity Demands. As the recognized leader in integrated disability and absence management, DMEC organizes an annual Think Tank that explores current hot topics in the field. The 2008 Think Tank will be held in Dallas, Texas on November 12.
Given the changes in technology and the desire that companies have for higher and higher levels of productivity, employees are ready to “hit the wall” in terms of the amount of stress they endure on a day-to-day basis and the potential for serious health problems (both physical and behavioral). There seems to be no end to the demands both on-the-clock and in terms of infringement of personal time, where the line between work and personal time is blurred or non-existent.
Given the research results that have demonstrated the detrimental effect of uncontrolled stress, what can employers do to make the workplace a human-friendly environment that limits the negative effects of productivity demands, and also what recommendations can be made for personal lifestyle changes that might offset these stressors? The 2008 DMEC Think Tank will explore these issues with top employers and experts in the field.
The DMEC Think Tank is supported by sponsorship from leaders in the absence and disability services industry. The Hartford is the first sponsor of the 2008 Think Tank.
A white paper outlining recommendations and current best practices for employers and employees will be available following the Think Tank. The 2007 white paper on Workplace Warriors: Corporate Response to Deployment and Reintegration is available for download from www.dmec.org.
Members of the media are invited to cover the Think Tank. Please contact Rebecca Milot-Bradford at 970.824.1074 or membership@dmec.org to receive a press pass and time and location details.
