Vacationers planning a visit to Australia are now using internet radio to gather information and travel tips to ensure their holiday is a success.

A new internet radio show, “The Sydney Visitor” has recently been launched, providing “The definitive podcast guide to visiting Sydney Australia”. The show includes tips, events, interviews, information and answers to questions asked by intending visitors.
“Australia is such a unique destination and there’s so much to know that sometimes you just need some local knowledge to help you along”, says Garry Searle, host of The Sydney Visitor, himself a resident of Sydney. “The Sydney Visitor is all about answering peoples questions about Sydney and Australia, and doing it an honest and accessible way”.
Searle obviously places a high priority on people being able to access the information he provides, From the shows website (http://www.thesydneyvisitor.com ), a browser can listen directly on the page with just one click, they can subscribe to the show through their choice of 12 different podcatchers, including the popular itunes directory, or they can download an mp3 file of each episode, and listen to it later on their ipod or mp3 player.
Searle is quick to emphasise that the technology is not important. “Just think of podcasts as a radio show that you listen to over the internet. The only difference is that you don’t need to tune in at a certain time to get the episode, just go to the website any time you like, and listen to as many episodes as you like, at the time and place that suits you.”
When asked about that distinctive Australian accent, Searle admits that some listeners find it unusual at first. “My accent is thicker than most, as a result of my childhood in country New South Wales (inland Australia). On the bright side, I tell listeners that if they can understand my accent on the podcast, they’ll have no problem with other Australians when they get here.”
