United States of America (Press Release) May 9, 2008 --
LOS ANGELES, California – May 9, 2008 – The organization known since 1998 as the Los Angeles Songwriter’s Network, or SongNet, is now The Songwriters Network, and has a new website domain. The new website URL of http://www.TheSongNet.org reflects the expansion that has occurred over the last ten years, and emphasizes the organization’s mission.
The Songwriters Network (SongNet) reaches a global audience through its website presence and networking through Internet social networks and email distribution lists or groups. Artists from Australia, Greenland, Ireland, among others, in addition to local Southern California artists and artists from throughout the United States have performed at SongNet live events. SongNet hosts a live music showcase every 3rd Wednesday of the month at The Coffee Gallery Backstage, plus other occasional local venues. The Coffee Gallery Backstage is located at 2029 N. Lake Ave., Altadena, California, 91001.
The Songwriters Network continues to offer free, no cover charge, first Wednesday of the month meetings, featuring music industry guest speakers. Songwriters are encouraged to bring a CD with a sample of their work for a live song review and critique from the panelist as well as the audience. This music industry connection has resulted in the placement of several songs into music libraries serving the film and television market, as well as artist management business relationships.
“SongNet is THE place to go for information about the songwriter community in the Los Angeles area, THE org with the nicest venue in Southern California, THE place to make industry connections, THE place where the BEST songwriters showcase their work, and THE place for YOU”, says Jimi Yamagishi, SongNet President and Director.
SongNet offers basic free membership, which includes access to newsletters, announcements, monthly showcases and seminars. Premium membership is offered for a $25 annual fee and includes appearance of the member’s profile, contact information, and Internet website links on the SongNet website.
More information is available at The Songwriters Network website, http://www.TheSongNet.org , or by contacting the SongNet webmaster, Tommy Honles at songnet@TheSongNet.org .
