United States of America (Press Release) May 9, 2008 --
Samurai Karate Studio was invited to perfom a martial arts demonstration at the Sparkleberry Fair on Saturday, April 26th in northeast Columbia, SC. This fair is one of the largest fairs to run in Columbia area and is attended by 20,000 plus fairgoers. According to Sparkleberry Fair organizers, this is the 13th year they have run this fair.
Despite a thunderstorm that rolled through the area just before performing, sending many spectators home, several SKS students performed on stage once the weather cleared. The children, 8-12 years of age displayed their sparring skills as well as performed basics, kata, and self defense.
Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and head instructor for Samurai Karate Studio commented, "This was a great opportunity for some of my students to demonstrate their skills in front of a large group. This is one of the many life skills we teach. It is really no different than standing up in front of a large audience and giving a speech. A demonstration like this helps to build their confidence and self esteem and really requires them to be focused. I was really proud of these kids and how well they performed and behaved waiting for their turn!"
Samurai Karate Studio is a Christian based school that teaches a traditional Japanese style of karate for students beginning at age 4 years and up.
