United States of America (Press Release) May 13, 2008 --
Hosted by An Apple a Day, this fun and educational workshop will include presentations designed to empower both mothers and daughters with the tools and knowledge to make better health, financial and personal decisions.
According to a recent WE TV network poll on dialogue between parents and teens:
• 33% of teenaged girls say they cannot discuss anything with their parents
• 73% of parents report knowing what is happening in their daughters’ lives
• 45% of the teenage respondents agree their parents know what is really happening
“Mothers cannot guide or mentor their daughters if they are not attuned to the issues that are most important to them,” says Marie Roker, Health and Wellness Coach of An Apple a Day. “This WISE UP workshop will address the pressing issues affecting adolescent girls and equip mothers with the tools to begin an open and honest dialogue that will mentor their daughters to womanhood.”
The cost of the workshop is $25 for two (Lunch is included).
All proceeds from the WISE UP workshop will be donated to the New York Association for New Americans' (www.nyana.org) Center for Women and Families, to support victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
