Hotel’s onsite murder-mystery show employs “theater of the surround” to draw attendees into the show

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – At the Regal Sun (www.RegalSunResort.com), guests can now feel like their favorite forensics TV show character by investigating the hotel’s new CSI-style MurderWatch Mystery Theatre (www.MurderWatch.com). Combining elements of a stage show with real-time experiences, the hotel’s weekly MurderWatch experience truly lives up to its tagline as “a show where the audience gets caught in the act.”
“Our newest MurderWatch show immerses guests in the action as they help to solve a ‘crime’ using CSI-style information,” said Jay Leonard, general manager of the Regal Sun. “With its dashes of comedy and focus on audience participation, guests can use their power of investigation and forensic ‘clues’ to solve the evening’s mystery. The MurderWatch Mystery Theatre has been performing musical whodunit-style shows as part of hotel’s signature entertainment for the last 18 years. As part of this new forensics-themed MurderWatch Mystery Theatre, guests “visit” a mobile crime lab complete with CSI computers, crime scene photos and pieces of evidence with the show relying heavily on the investigation of potential suspects. By emphasizing true crime elements instead of the prior “musical-style” mystery show, guests are able to focus on the show’s investigation instead of its songs.
“Because MurderWatch shows are performed in ‘real time’, guests become part of the experience and feel as though they have an active role in the investigations,” said Connie Gay, co-owner and co-director of Dreamland Productions which developed MurderWatch Mystery Theater.
