United States of America (Press Release) May 22, 2008 --
Boy Scouts from Sterling Heights Michigan are getting ready for a summer high adventure trip in the Florida Keys. As part of their planning, the boys decided to create their own T-Shirts with a custom logo that the Scouts would design. They struck up a friendly contest to see who would have the best design.
The young men received a surprise when world renowned artist, scientist, diver, angler, conservationist and explorer Guy Harvey heard about the contest and sent a limited edition signed print as a prize for the winning logo. The print is entitled “Rainbow Country” and depicts a rainbow trout in the wild.
Harvey also sent each Scout a copy of "Responsible Seafood Guide" which shows which sea food to consider lessening the impact on the ecology and fish stocks in the world’s oceans.
The Scouts will be in the Boy Scouts of America Florida Keys Seabase for 8 days of sailing, exploring and learning about the reef and island chain ecosystem. This will be the Scout Troop’s first visit to the Keys.
Sterling Height’s Boy Scout Troop 210 offers a complete program for a Scouting adventure for young men 11-18 years old. From local camping and service projects to high adventure Troop “2-ten” has done it all. For more information contact Mike Hardy at 586-566-6494 or visit us at www.troop2ten.org.
