Huntington Beach CA – May 22, 2008 -- Meleesa The Salon will organize and host an event to benefit Invisible Children, Inc. on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 9:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. at Black Bull Chop House in Huntington Beach CA.
Entrance to this event is free, but attendees must be 21 and over. Guests can compete in the mechanical bull-riding contest for $25.00 per ride, courtesy of Black Bull Chop House. Bull ride ticket purchase doubles as an entry for the grand prize drawings of a Cloud Surfboard, courtesy
of Lost Enterprises, a photo package from Jim Kennedy Photographers worth $4,500.00 and a six month supply of Vitamin Water. Raffle tickets for prizes offered by various sponsors can be purchased for $5.00 each. Proceeds will be going to benefit Invisible Children, Inc. and Institute for Field Research Expeditions (IFRE). Raffle tickets can be purchased at Meleesa The Salon or during the event at Black Bull Chop House.
There will be a performance by dance group Samba Passion, an exhibit of photographs from the Invisible Children orphanages in Northern Uganda and a fashion show featuring Soleil Swimwear with hair and makeup courtesy of Meleesa The Salon. Master of ceremonies will be Mr. Preston. DJ Big John will be providing music for this event.

Invisible Children, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose goal is to create awareness regarding the plight of the people of Northern Uganda. Many innocent children are caught in the midst of a civil war between the government and Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army, a rebel group that makes extensive use of kidnapping children and using them as soldiers.
Invisible Children was started after the founders (Jason Russell, Bobby Bailey and Lauren Poole) created a short documentary film on the subject, also called Invisible Children. Invisible Children, Inc. is also responsible for raising significant sums of money, which go toward a number of programs they have developed in Acholiland. Institute for Field Research Expeditions (IFRE) is a non-profit, volunteer organization committed to carrying out authentic field research programs on ecology, environment, wildlife, archeology and other areas affecting global communities. The secondary objective of IFRE is to offer affordable and high quality volunteer abroad and internship abroad programs. In collaboration
with local organizations, IFRE presently offers volunteer abroad programs in Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, China, Thailand, Peru, Costa Rica, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania. Meleesa The Salon hair stylist Cerissa Cain will be embarking on a two-week expedition with IRFE, volunteering at an orphanage in Kampala, Uganda. There she will provide assistance to the children at the orphanage, including teaching English. Cerissa is an avid volunteer when she is not working in the salon.
