Award Winning Chef at The Langdale Hotel in the English Lake District

Michael now goes on to the North West Final. The North West Fine Foods Young Chef of the Year Awards has been running for 5 years now and was created to encourage young, creative and talented chefs aged between 16 and 25 to show their skills. The competition is run to raise the profile of catering as a progressive career. The finalists consisted of Martin and Matt, the two youngest chefs, both from Castle Green in Kendal and who are members of the Kendal College culinary team. Michael Lambert works at Purdeys in Elterwater and Luke works at Lakeside, Newby Bridge. The tense and heated cookoff was held at the Lucy Cooks Culinary School in Staveley. The management team at The Langdale Hotel are said to be "extremely proud and pleased with Michael's efforts leading up to and during the competition".

Purdey's Restaurant is one of two restaurants at one of the most exciting Lake District hotels in the area, The Langdale Estate and has been designed in the style of an old mill, with oak floors, local stone and water features creating an interesting and unique atmosphere. The original cannon used to test gunpowder in the last century is a reminder of the location's history. The excellent 2 and 3-course menu features some of the finest local ingredients. Fine wines, friendly service and attention to detail ensure a wonderful dining experience.
