YoNaturals Healthy Vending Plan for Overweight Kids
YoNaturals is leading the way against childhood obesity in schools
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 27, 2008 --
YoNaturals Inc. the nationwide leader in healthy vending announced today that it is launching its “direct to schools” program aimed at elementary, middle and high schools in selected markets around the U.S. The YoNaturals program will allow school administrators, food service directors and even students to get involved in the process of implementing and supporting a healthy vending program at their school.
"It’s easy to replace caffeinated sugary sodas and fat laden high calorie items with those that are organic and all-natural and which will fit well within new nutritional guidelines." says Mark Trotter CEO of YoNaturals.
"Sodas are fizzling out in vending machines as new state mandated nutritional guidelines take place across the U.S. for the upcoming 2008 fall semester." says Trotter. YoNaturals will replace sugary sodas with bottled water, juices, organic milks and other healthy snacks. The war on junk food is now reaching the vending machines where healthy snacks and drinks will hopefully entice students away from the more fattening, cholesterol-laden foods sold in the lunch lines such as pizza, nachos, burgers and french fries.
Pacific Ridge School located in Carlsbad, CA recently decided to go with the YoNaturals vending program because they were a new school and as Jean Nassif, Director of Admissions said “Pacific Ridge was either going to choose YoNaturals with it’s healthy snacks and drinks or no vending machines at all; because there is no middle ground on what students should be offered”. “The children and parents at our school strongly support the healthy options in the YoNaturals machine and we highly recommend their program to schools everywhere.” said Nassif.
Overall, roughly 32 percent of children nationwide are overweight with 16 percent being obese and 11 percent being extremely obese, in a study based on in-person measurements of height and weight in 2005 and 2006. Those levels were roughly the same as in 2003-04 after a steady rise since 1980, according to the Federal Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, which conducted the study.
The full impact of the childhood obesity epidemic will continue to mount in coming years because it often takes many years for obesity-related complications to translate into life-threatening events, including heart attacks, type-2 diabetes and kidney failure.
YoNaturals healthy vending machines feature many of the best selling natural/organic snacks and drinks available in the U.S. The machines have 24/7 monitoring to ensure machines are freshly stocked and serviced. Sampling events can be provided for students and staff to include the latest in healthy snacks and beverages. Schools can choose from a selection of over 300 products on a comprehensive ecommerce website.
YoNaturals offers a complete solution for schools and we encourage students, parents and schools to visit the YoNaturals website at www.yonaturals.com for more information or call (858) 794-9955.
