Lotus cars, the world renowned sports car manufacturer based in Norfolk have chosen Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre as the venue to unveil a very special new car.

Lotus cars, the world renowned sports car manufacturer based in Norfolk have chosen Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre as the venue to unveil a very special new car.
Lotus will take the covers off a limited edition Jim Clark Elise sports car.
Based on the superb new 200bhp Supercharged Lotus Elise SC; only 25 will be built to commemorate with the 40th anniversary of the passing of the great Jim Clark. To be launched at Knockhill Racing Circuit at the “Classic Speedfair” weekend on 7th/8th June. Jim’s surviving relatives were consulted for their permission to use the name and signature of Jim Clark; all agreed that this would be an excellent tribute from the company for which he excelled.
Finished in classic non-metallic Racing Green with Yellow stripe, as per Jim’s famous Type 25 Formula One car, the car has a bespoke interior in Red, and some classic touches including wooden gearknob, signature Jim Clark signwriting, and yellow grille surround. Unique wheels, extra specification and a great value package fish off what will become an instant classic.
Jim was born in Kilmany in Fife so it is extremely fitting that the new Lotus be launched at Knockhill.
As part of a celebration of 60 glorious years of producing what is regarded by many performance car aficionados as the best handling sports cars in the world, Lotus cars will bring The Lotus Roadshow to the Fife circuit’s 3rd “Classic Speedfair.” A full range of the company’s exciting cars will be on show.
Hundreds of Lotus owners from all corners of the UK and numerous foreign fans of the famous Marque will converge at the Fife Circuit and will put on a special display and on-track demonstrations.
The circuit’s PR manager, Ray Smith said, “Knockhill is extremely pleased and honoured that Lotus Cars have decided to unveil this stunning, significant car here at our “Classic Speedfair” event.
Continued Ray, “It’s a magnificent tribute to one of the greatest ever world champions and Jim, who’s name will forever be linked to Lotus is certain to be fondly remembered by the thousands of visitors to the event.”
In addition to the hundreds of cars on show, the event, which is billed as having something for everyone from Grandson’s to Granddad’s will also feature a full programme of racing with Formula Ford competitors battling it out to win the Sir Jackie Stewart Trophy whilst classic sports and saloon drivers will be competing in the first ever running of the Jimmy Stewart Trophy race, honouring Sir Jackie’s late elder brother.
