United States of America (Press Release) June 4, 2008 --
RALEIGH - Entrepreneurs, and those still dreaming of owning their own business, now have a radio talk-show forum to get information on how to start, promote and grow their company.
EntreWorld Today, a show "for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs", airs week mornings from 8 to 9 a.m. on WCLY 1550AM.
The show was started by two serial entrepreneurs; Bobby Norson, Serial Entrepreneur.and Ty Cohen, who is not only a business consultant, but also a business strategist, motivational speaker, national lecturer, author of a dozen plus books and the self-proclaimed “World’s #1 Business Talk Radio Host” with several highly successful business under his belt.
Host Bobby Norson, draws an analogy between starting and growing a business, and pressurizing coal into diamonds.
“A lot of the ideas people have are diamonds in the rough,” he said. “We just have to step up and do what needs to be done to start a successful business.”
Fellow Co-Host Ty Cohen says “In today’s day and age business owners and those looking to start a business are in need of substance and real, live, practical information that they can immediately put to use and see immediate results from”
“The radio show was started to encourage people to start their business, market it, grow it and maintain it. A lot of small business operators don’t fully understand how to do that, but the information is out there, and people want it delivered by a familiar voice; somebody whose experience they can relate to,” said Norrson, 38, a native of Greensboro. “Sometimes, when you don’t have a lot of money, you need alternative ways to grow your business.”
On a recent Mindset Monday program, Norrson and Cohen geared information towards urging people to tap their inner voice – and their tax refund check – to find their passion.
“Plenty of times, we think about what we are going to do with our tax refund money,” Norrson told listeners. “Think about wants versus needs. Think long term and smartly use that money.”
Debra Ashe of Raleigh, a regular listener, will put that advice into practice with a $25 gift certificate she won as part of being one of the show’s first callers.
“I’m going to let the money help me get business cards and paper for my business, just to get started,” said Ashe who wants to start a school. “When I was really trying to grab this big ball, it seemed like nothing was happening. It was too big. Now, my dreams are not gone thanks to EntreWorld Today.”
Brian T. Hines, owner of Metamorphosis the Suite, a barbershop and salon on New Bern Avenue, is a sponsor. He hears customers constantly talk about the show.
“It’s energetic, it’s informational and it’s progressive,” Hines said. “It’s just what entrepreneurs and anyone thinking of starting a business needs.”
The show has landed some notable guests, from multi-millionaires to future Senators and garnered loyal fans in its first six weeks.
“It’s exactly what I needed,” said Lynne Thomas, a Tupperware consultant who wants to dust off her desktop publishing business. “Every now and then I would get started, and then I would get a job and either didn’t have the time or the team to bring that dream to fruition.”
Thomas said the show fills her 35-minute commute.
“I get a lot of information,” she said. “It’s nothing stagnant … always encouraging.”
