AIESEC’s Global Internship Provides Talent Pool

June 5, 2008

AIESEC’s global internship program has assisted Canadian companies in attaining access to a pool of talented leaders for 50 years.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 5, 2008 -- The Global Internship Program that began 50 years ago in Canada has allowed companies to attain some of the best and brightest young leaders. Currently, Calgary has become home to an intern from Finland and is employed by AIESEC Calgary’s platinum partner Nexen. Andrea Szabo, originally from Hungary, is a resident of Finland and is a student in Business Administration and Intercultural communications. Her internship with Nexen will last for 13 months and will be working with Human Resources.

Working as a reciprocal exchange program, the Global Internship program has overseen more than 4 000 internships a year between 103 countries and 1100 institutions. A Canadian student or recent graduate receives the opportunity to work abroad, which provides him/her with unparallel cultural and professional experience. The benefits of Canadian companies accepting interns from abroad can include filling a gap in labor shortages and hiring students with cross-cultural skills that can offer problem solving skills in an intercultural perspective.
