Bangalore June 5th, 2008: Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) Pokhara, Nepal announces admissions to their MBBS degree, for the batch commencing August 2008. The last date for submission of applications is July 7th 2008. To be eligible for this programme, a minimum aggregate of 50% at the 10+2 or equivalent examination is required. The candidate should be above 17 years of age. There is no entrance Examination.

Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal was established in 1994. The institute is a result of collaboration between Manipal Group and the Government of Nepal. Located in Pokhara, a scenic location 200 km west of Kathmandu, MCOMS is affiliated to the Kathmandu University and is recognized across the world, for its high standards of excellence. MCOMS provides a five and a half years MBBS degree course (4 ½ years plus 1 year Internship) and postgraduate courses in all the basic science subjects and selected clinical subjects. MCOMS Nepal has students joining from India, SriLanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Singapore, Middle East, Kenya, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and South Africa hence provides the student community a rich multi cultural exposure.
The four and a half years of the MBBS course is divided into nine semesters, each, six months in duration. On successful completion of the 4 ½ year MBBS degree course the student has to undergo one year of compulsory residential, rotating internship. The MBBS degree of MCOMS has been a recognized medical qualification in India since July 1999 vide Government of India gazette notification dated 26/9/2001 {V.11016/1/2000-ME(UG)}. However, vide gazette notification of 2002 all foreign medical graduates will have to clear the screening test in order to practice upon their return to India.
