DIGITAL AWARD FOR NORTH EAST ENGLAND LANGUAGE SERVICES
North East England translation firm, Williams Language Solutions, won Best Digital User for Online Learning in the very first North East Digital Awards.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 6, 2008 --
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of businesses and organisations that have recognised, developed and used digital techniques to generate and maintain an effective online presence.
The awards were open to three separate business types – digital users, suppliers and innovators. In total 52 other businesses received recognition for their excellence at the ceremony which took place on Thursday 15 May.
Williams Language Solutions won the Award for its website, which is an interactive e-space providing translation and editing services, language courses and cultural training. Its functionality provides instant access to a wide range of programmes, learning materials and resources to users from across the globe.
Stefania Williams, Managing Director of Williams Language Solutions, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to win Best Digital User for Online Learning. Business etiquette is part of the cultural marketing programme offered (online or face to face) to our clients, together with translations of press releases, catalogues, company documents, and most importantly, localisation of websites.
“One of the reasons why I am very proud of this achievement is that it shows that the North East is a hot bed for linguist talent, international communication and intercultural dialogue.”
The company has recently published a guide on business etiquette in 10 worldwide countries which is a vital tool for any business trading abroad. "Learning about different cultures solves the challenges in international communications. It is vital to go ahead of the competition, and our guide gives the best ways to host a meeting, and establishing a good relationship with foreign contacts."
The guide is for sale with the title "how to speak culturese". "Culture speaks more than words", says Stefania. "The title shows that culture is indeed another language, the language of the mind."
Pascal Fintoni, head of e-business at the North East Regional Portal, said: “I would like to congratulate Williams Language Solutions on this achievement. The website boasts excellent functionality and accessibility, and is a fantastic example of best online learning.”
The 2008/9 campaign is due to be launched this summer, providing impetus for both the organisers and potential entrants to raise the bar even higher and truly establish the North East as a vibrant hub for digital development.
