With gas prices climbing, thieves are doing what they do best. Read about it here.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 10, 2008 --
With most or all of the country suffering from $4.00 (and higher) gas prices, thieves in some states have taken to stealing gasoline.
Most of the thefts have come at the expense of business and commercial vehicles which sit idle and unattended during evenings and weekend. Thieves are slicing the gas line and inserting it into a standard garden hose, which fills into a container of some sort.
It appears to be a growing trend in some parts of the country. And here is betting that, as gas prices remain high, the trend remains or increases.
Other thieves have resorted to stealing license plates. Then they show up at a gas station which allows you to fill up first, pay second. After filling up they speed away. If anyone manages to write down the license plate, it does not matter. It's stolen anyway.
Can you imagine the Sheriff showing up at your door with a warrant for stealing gas? If your license plate is stolen, contact the Motor Vehicle Department immediately and report the theft. Contact the police by phone and report the stolen object. It might save you later.
There are other ways to save money on your vehicle, besides stealing gas or license plates. Car insurance rates vary between companies, sometimes as much as 40%.
