United States of America (Press Release) June 12, 2008 --
The purpose of this event, besides bringing the community together to have some fun, is to raise funds for Cassie Cox, a sweet young girl with an inoperable brain tumor, through several fun activities, although general admission is free. The event will take place on June 21 at 1:00 p.m. to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Saratoga Springs during their annual "Saratoga Splash" city celebration. The location is Harvest Hills Elementary 2 miles south of Camp Williams on Redwood Road. (2105 N. Providence Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah)
The mayor will be speaking, the United States Navy will be out in full force, and the American Red Cross will be on hand to raise awareness about emergency preparedness and to collect donations for supplies to help families in distress. Immediately after the world record is broken, the city fire department will hose down the crowd to cool things off. So grab your squirt guns and super soakers and come help us make history. (Squirt guns also available for purchase on site; proceeds go to Cassie). You can count on bucket loads of cool summer fun, great music, food and refreshments, prizes, surprises, and you'll definitely get soaked to the bone! re-register online: http://www.saratoga-springs.net/ (click on red bar) Or register at the event starting at 10:00 a.m.
As mentioned, this event is also a fundraiser for 8 year old Cassie Cox. She was diagnosed June 12, 2004 with a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma (Brain Tumor) located in an inoperable place in front of her brain stem. She is undergoing chemotherapy for the third time in four years. The doctors are trying to keep it from growing and buying time to allow her to mature before she will eventually have to undergo radiation therapy. The tumor has already affected her eyesight with some blind spots in her left field of vision. This has not deterred Cassie from her love of reading which is a favorite pastime. Cassie is a friendly, enthusiastic and energetic girl who also loves to play with her sister, her friends, pretend numerous things with her creative imagination and learn about animals.
