Survivor asks for help to knit a 34mile Pink Scarf
Jenny Chant, BEDWORTH, WARWICKSHIRE, a breast cancer survivor has vowed to knit the world’s longest pink scarf. She says this is her way of giving back. She is appealing to the public to help in any way they can. You don’t have to knit to get involved, you can donate time or materials.
The current record for the longest scarf is 33.74 miles; Jenny hopes to beat that record. Each scarf measures 2 metres and that means she will need 27,000 to beat the current record. Her efforts are in aid of Cancer Research and in educating people about this awful disease.
When asked why she decided to do this Jenny responded saying: “I am not skilled and I don't have a cure but I can knit”. Her noble efforts are to try and get everyone involved from women to men, grannies to teenagers. If you would like to join her you can get more information from the website set up especially for this appeal.
Once the task is completed she hopes to auction the scarves off and give the proceeds to help in the development of better detection of the disease and to help in educating sufferers and non sufferers alike. Jenny’s piece of advice to all is “always go for your check ups and inspect yourself regularly”!
