Germany (Press Release) June 22, 2008 --
„Because of ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ I will celebrate International Fruit Day on the 1st of July,” says Tanya Holleis. “As a child apples were my favorite fruit. It still is today.“ She continues smiling: „ I haved lived near Frankfurt in Germany for the past 15 years and I am moving again. An apple is a perfect quick snack in between breaks. Apples are such an easy fastfood. They don’t make a mess even while I’m refurbishing the new falt. I oven eat an apple during the day. Even while I’m working at Balfour Beatty.“
For her work it is important to keep the working place clean. It’s similar for her tailoring work. Holleis started a project tailoring handbags. She designs and tailors these for children with her own label Tiger & Roses. Every handbag is individual and gets a story or fairytale which children may continue with own ideas and thoughts. Of course an apple has found its way as a symbol in a fairy tale to one of the bags she makes. In a fable Aristopig is a royal pig who eats all apples in the kingdom.
“My own new home has fruit-trees in the garden. I can’t wait for harvest,“ Holleis continues to tell her own story. „I think it’s important to eat local fruits. In that way I support farming in the region and avoid long transportion routes which should reduce pollution. For International Fruit Day July 1 I will invite my friends to my garden. We will discuss efforts to reduce pollution while we shall have salad with apples and walnuts.“
