Washington’s Clear Water Compliance Services purchased Richmond, British Columbia’s KI Environmental Services to help extend its services to support economies and ecosystems throughout North America.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 24, 2008 -- SEATTLE, WA: In theory, everyone supports a strong economy and a clean environment. In practice, these goals are often at odds with each other. The odds they can coexist just improved with the announcement that Clear Water Compliance Services, Inc. has purchased KI Environmental Services, Inc. of Richmond, British Columbia.

“Water resources in general and water quality in particular are growing concerns throughout the world,” says Thomas Leggiere, Chief Executive Officer of Clear Water Compliance Services, which provides high-technology stormwater, industrial waste water, groundwater, and sludge dewatering treatment services. “The purchase of KI Environmental, a firm already highly respected in British Columbia for its work in protecting water quality, gives us increased

expertise and technical know-how to better support growing economies and preserve natural environments.”

The acquisition is timely. From 2007 to 2008, the economy in British Columbia has experienced an increase of 13,000 construction-related jobs, thanks in part to a large number of infrastructure-improvement projects built in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Over the same period, the manufacturing sector in British Columbia added an estimated 10,000 new jobs.

“Most people don’t realize how much pollution happens at a construction site,” explains Bill Elliott, President of Clear Water. “They see the clearing of trees and brush, but they don’t think about the resulting pollutants such as soil erosion and stormwater runoff. Later, as

pavement goes down and buildings go up, the natural flow of water through the ecosystem is further disrupted. That can lead to destroyed habitats and billions of gallons of sediment-laden runoff water that can potentially pollute nearby lakes, streams, rivers, and oceans.”

Canada is in the process of developing stronger environmental regulations, and the purchase of KI Environmental positions Clear Water as an established solution-provider in British Columbia.

Clear Water has earned a reputation for high quality water treatment in such high-profile projects as the third runway project at Seattle’s Sea-Tac Airport and the reclamation of wetlands south of Seattle. Unlike most water treatment companies, its unique process cleans polluted water to a standard that can be discharged as surface water, safe enough for even fish habitats.

Clear Water plans to extend its service reach to support economies and ecosystems throughout North America. With offices already in Lynnwood and Auburn, Washington; Loomis, California; and Charlotte, North Carolina, Clear Water will open additional offices by mid-summer in River Falls, Wisconsin; Memphis, Tennessee; and Tallahassee, Florida.

“We look forward to being partners with governments and businesses that want to grow their economies responsibly and protect natural environments for future generations," Leggiere adds.
