While DataSelf's ETL tool for mid-size organizations has always been easy to maintain, today the company released a new version that's even easier. The new version, DataSelf ETL v2008, actually requires an average 20% fewer clicks than before.
"We took great care to simplify the user interface for the most commonly used features, and we added new features that make the BI maintenance easier" said Joni Girardi, DataSelf CEO.
The new ETL also comes with several templates designed to work with the mid-market's most popular ERP and CRM systems. These include Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sage Accpac ERP, Sage BusinessVision, SageCRM, Sage MAS 90 ERP, Sage MAS 200 ERP, Sage MAS 500 ERP, Sage PRO ERP, Sage PFW ERP, Sage SalesLogix and Sage Business One. That means that getting a BI system up and running is much faster and that long-term cost of maintenance is much lower.
"Our ETL and templates let us simplify and amplify Microsoft’s set of BI technologies," said Girardi. "On average, it takes a couple of hours or days to deploy our out-of-the-box solution."
Clients and partners will find that building and maintaining data warehouses in Microsoft SQL Server is even simpler. As before, DataSelf ETL eliminates the need for the programming of MS SQL Server Integration Services, stored procedures and DTS packages. Users benefit from DataSelf BI without calling in MS SQL programmers.
The solution comes with a comprehensive data warehouse, several OLAP cubes and hundreds of reports and key performance indicators (KPIs). It covers a wide range of BI needs, including the creation and maintenance of KPIs, dashboards, forecasting, budgeting, operational reporting, financial reporting, commissions, analytics, data mining, data warehousing, OLAP cubes, balanced scorecards and business activity monitoring.
DataSelf clients manage, on average, about 70% of their own BI customization. Almost all of the other customizations can be done in hours.
The new ETL works with MS SQL Server and includes these main features:
• Data extraction: DataSelf ETL enables several types of data extraction. The process has been optimized and fine-tuned to pull data from the most popular databases used in the mid-market (e.g., MS SQL, MS Access, MS FoxPro, Providex, Pervasive, Oracle, DB2 and Excel). Data extraction can refresh all data, partial blocks of data (e.g., only data after 01/01/2007) or only append. Regardless of how “large” or how many source databases there are, there are ways to make the full refresh fast.
• Data transformation: DataSelf ETL comes with a powerful calculation engine that allows users to tackle complex business rules. These might include the calculation of KPIs, denormalization, calculation of forecasts and commissions, and slow-moving dimensions.
• Data loading: An efficient algorithm makes data loading fast and reliable.
