United States of America (Press Release) July 6, 2008 --
At first glance, Emily Powell might look like an ordinary 11-year-old girl. But, if you look a bit closer you will see that there is a lot more to this kid than you might expect. With nothing more than a ton of passion for animals, and a cause to fight for, Emily has launched a huge fund raising effort for Anza horse rescue, Heavenly Horse Haven Ranch.
As prices skyrocket, people across America are rethinking their spending habits. Many who once had the spare money to support horses and other pets have suddenly found that they no longer can afford them. This leaves enormous numbers of horses on the market with very few buyers willing to take them in.
Some horse owners turn to the auctions to sell their animals, hoping that someone other than the kill buyer might purchase them. Others try to keep their pets, slowly neglecting their care until the poor animals are near death’s door. Gina Perrin, owner of Heavenly Horse Haven Ranch, comments, “We have troubles in our own backyard… the price of gas, the price of hay is so high that people are abandoning and leaving their animals to starve.” Someone has to come to the rescue.
Ms. Perrin is doing just that. Unfortunately, caring for horses does not come cheap. There is hay to be bought, grain to be fed, bedding for the stalls and of course all important veterinary and farrier care. When rescuing, these costs are even higher due to the increased needs of animals that are often in terrible condition upon arrival.
It does not take long for the money to be stretched to the max. Some income is derived from adoption fees when the horses are rehabilitated, but these barely scratch the surface. This is where Emily Powell steps in.
With her Save a Horse, Save a Life plan, Emily aims to raise a whopping $25,000 to support the rescue. This money would be used to cover veterinary fees, corrective hoof trimming, and dedicated feed programs for horses in need. The horses would then be reconditioned, retrained and returned to a productive life.
Emily’s website, www.heartofgoldforall.com is designed to support her cause and raise funds for Heavenly Horse Haven Ranch. Visitors to the sites can find out more about the rescue and find out how to support her cause. To learn more about Heavenly Horse Haven Ranch, visit their website at www.heartofgoldforall.com.
