South Burlington, VT. /July 14th 2008: America’s Pet Store is proud to announce the introduction of the Garmin Astro DC 30 GPS Dog Tracking Collar to their extensive portfolio of dog tracking equipment. The Garmin Astro DC 30 is the successor of the already popular DC 20; however, it features physical and technical upgrades that are sure to enhance the gun dog experience for both the pup and the owner.
The Garmin Astro DC 30 features a more rugged collar than the previous model. “The new DC 30 collar is designed to stand up to the torturous abuse of hunting dogs. Whether it’s hounds crashing through thick and swampy woods, or bird dogs bounding through dense CRP fields, the DC 30 is made to take the beating that working dogs dish out daily,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “And the new configuration also makes mounting the collar a cinch – while improving reception.”

While the popularity of the DC 20 suggested little room for improvement, the DC 30 made a few small upgrades that will greatly enhance the overall performance and usability. The DC 30 boasts a 7 mile range (versus the 5 mile range of the DC 20), a rugged IPX7 waterproof design, a sleek “whip” design antenna that extends from the side of the collar rather than the top, a 17-36 hour battery life depending on the variable position update rate, and a lightweight (8.7 oz) ergonomic design that won’t hinder a gun dog when he’s out in the field.
The DC 30 can be purchased as set with the Garmin Astro Handheld device or as a standalone product. The Garmin Astro DC 30 will be available only through select authorized retailers beginning in mid-August. America’s Pet Store will be retailing the DC 30 for $199.00 including free UPS ground shipping within the continental United States.
