United Kingdom of Great Britain & N. Ireland (Press Release) July 21, 2008 --
Samosir Images is a division of the travel publisher Samosir Books, and aims to plug a gap in the market where the larger stock agencies fall down. Removing the frustrating experiences of trawling through millions of images of stock, Samosir only presents iconic images from it's portfolio enabling the editor to easily find a strong image to represent the article, product or feature in production.
Working for stock libraries for over 20 years, Roger Davies, set up Samosir Images in early 2000, and represents only two photographers. Acclaimed travel writers and twin brothers, Simon Raven and Chris Raven, aged 33, continually travel the globe on assignment and work full time on indepth projects for clients. Roger Davies said, "Using only two full time photographers has given Samosir Images a unique identity; capturing images from fresh angles of people, architecture, landscape, and nature from across the globe."
Using only two main staff photographers also has obvious benefits. "As an exclusive archive, our photographs are used minimally, carefully licencing images to individual clients." In an industry riff with the illegal use of images, Samosir Images provides comfort and confidence to it's clients who have a long and personal relationship with the agency.
"In a changing industry, the need to carefully edit and tailor images for specific clients is paramount."
