Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo Becomes Goodwill Ambassador for nonprofit, TIMOTCA

Nonprofit organization announces Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo as Goodwill Ambassador

TIMOTCA is a 501 (c) (3) international nonprofit, corporation founded in 1980 to foster peace and cultural understanding through the Universal Language of Art and to establish the world’s first cultural center to present the visual and performing arts of every country of the world.
Transcending politics and working to serve as a catalyst for peace, the TIMOTCA Centre will include an unprecedented Peace Monument, museums, theaters, sculpture gardens, and a conference center for the development of cultural programs advancing human interaction and peaceful co-existence.
To date, over 60 countries have officially accepted TIMOTCA's invitation to participate and their representatives have signed the Artist Nomination Document nominating their most renowned living
artists – one of whom has been selected to represent his or her country in TIMOTCA, contributing a painting for TIMOTCA’s permanent collection. These works are featured in TIMOTCA's international touring exhibition "Art Beyond Borders" which premiered at United Nations Headquarters under the sponsorship of UNESCO.
Funding for the development and construction of the TIMOTCA Center and for its ongoing exhibitions and efforts to promote peace and cultural understanding through the universal language of art will be accomplished, in part, through TIMOTCA membership in the Founding Circle of Angels. One of the rare and significent benefits of the Cirlce of Angels is the gift of a Limited Edition of the original paintings contributed by the artists representating
their countries.
The United Nations and the entities under the umbrella of the United Nations, such as UNICEF and UNESCO, has a tradition of enlisting the volunteer services and support of prominent individuals from the worlds of art, sport, literature and entertainment to highlight priority issues and to draw attention to their fundraising activities. TIMOTCA is proud to add Shohreh Aghdashloo to its preeminent list of supporters. TIMOTCA is confident Shohreh’s spirit and her commitment to the goals of TIMOTCA will encourage memberships and inspire those who share the vision of peace and cultural understanding through the universal language of art.
As TIMOTCA’s Goodwill Ambassador, Shohreh will be available for TV and Radio interviews and is presently being scheduled for a PSA annoucing TIMOTCA’s international membership campaign for the Founding Circle of Angeles.
Ms. Aghdashloo was born in Tehran, Iran and started acting at the age of 20. Following numerous starring roles on the stage, she was offered her first film role in Gozāresh (The Report) directed by renowned director Abbas Kiarostami which won the Critics Award at the Moscow Film Festival.
Her interest in politics and concern for social injustice in the world, and especially in her native Iran, led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations. She continued to pursue her acting career, however, which brought her to Los Angeles.
Aghdashloo made her American film debut in 1989 in a starring role in Guests of Hotel Astoria and in 2003 she shot to fame co-starring opposite Ben Kingsley in House of Sand and Fog for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Other credits include narrating and producing a documentary, “Mystic Iran: The Unseen World” and narrating the PBS documentary Iran: “A Celebration of Art and Culture. “
