Living on $20 a day in New York for 9 months - Its a blast!

(Free-Press-Release.com) July 25, 2008 -- I came to New York in September 2006, from Sydney, Australia; with only two bags and a prayer. What I got was more than a lifetime of experience and a great chance for a new and exciting life.

Within 3 months of being here, I got a work sponsorship but no job. It was in December of 2006 when the fun began as it was when I ran out of money. My adventures in New York as an Aussie, prompted me to write a book to alleviate the longs days of looking for work in Information Technology and juggling babysitting, promo work (dressing up as a Red Coat at Times Square), being a photographer's rep, medical advocate, IRS advocate, volunteer for the Fund for the City of New York and NY CAres.

The book is about a fictional character named Alain who barely survived a messy divorce - leaving him penniless, living in his parents living room that is very tiny, and attempting to become an alcoholic but not succeeding (he got drunk on two scotch and cokes, and could not drink Johnny Walker straight). He was depressed and angry, but the only thing he clung on was the dream to live in America. So he got to New York and he got more than what he bargained for.

So it is a comedy, drama and love story rolled into one. It also highlights the pain and suffering of divorce and its affects on people. Alain, as he battled his ex wife's lawyers trying to take all of his retirement fund (since they got all the rest), saves a life with his medical knowledge (no he is not a doctor), fronts up to the IRS for a friend, gets arrested at Penn Station, falls in love and out of love, get to ride in an ambulance with an injured Aussie tourist and met celebrities in his trips in the subway and just clubbing in the city - all for $20 a day for 9 months!

I hope to publish and release the book by December 2008 and I hope you would all like it.
