Cut the commute and work at home: how three women started their home-based business to save at the pumps
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 25, 2008 --
Entrepreneurs Honey Wesley, Dorian Dawson, and Diana Nielsen are more than just co-workers; they're family! The mother-and-twin-daughters team began freelance writing as a side job to bring in some extra money to cover the rising cost of gasoline and soon they were covering much more than just a tank of gas each week.
Now, two of the trio have effectively quit their previous full-time jobs as a nurse and a teacher, opting to stay home and manage the freelance writing business, A Writer's Magic.com, which provides a myriad of services from ghostwriting to blogging to marketing strategy.
“The costs associated with even an average trip to work in Houston are becoming an added disadvantage of the 9-5,” said Honey, formerly an R.N., “plus, I get to set my own schedule and enjoy the comforts of working from home... without the commute!”
Engineering their cars to run on water instead of gas is the trio's next endeavor in an effort to stay on top of pump prices that are climbing without an end in sight. It might sound like something out of Back to the Future, but there are ways to do it, according to the company's newest site, SecretsOfWaterForGas.com. Three separate ebooks on the site walk you step by step towards creating your own water-for-fuel engines with instructions written in everyday language.
“I'm the only one stuck paying for extra tanks of gas,” said Diana. “I love teaching and I'm not ready to go the route of my mom and sister yet, but I'm definitely trying to unlock the secrets of water for gas. With what we save on gas, we'd like to be able to go on a family vacation, but we'll probably wind up reinvesting the savings into the business.”
Not everyone is able to leave the stability of full-time employment to go into business for themselves. However, if you have a marketable skill, such as freelance writing, starting your own business is definitely something to consider; especially as projected gas prices creep towards the five and ten dollar mark for the near future.
