JensonUSA has seen a dramatic increase in business up over 30% from this time last year. Typically high end mountain bikes have been a huge seller for this retailer for the past 3 years, but that started to change when gas prices began there annual trek north for the summer.

“We're seeing huge spikes in commuter related bikes and accessories sales - there is obviously a booming interest in riding to work Typically commuter bikes and accessories are about 20% of what we sell in a given month but we are seeing it much higher. With the highest in June at 35%” says Justin Christopher Sales and Marketing Director for JensonUSA. “We’re stocking bikes from our distributor as quick as we can get them, but even now we are running low again.” Everything from city commuters, rugged road bikes, hard tail mountain bikes, and even High end Road bikes are flying off the shelves at an alarming rate.

Even many of JensonUSA’s employees’ are commuting to work to help save money and “to set an example” says Jared Saunders who has logged over 3000 miles in 186 days of commuting to work. Their average commuting distance is 16 miles, with one individual commuting 50 miles one way. Jeff Do is that man and of commuting by bike he says, “It really isn’t that difficult, I think people just over think what it takes, but anyone can do it really.”
