SJG Consumer Protection to launch August 2008

Based on a vision of true consumer advocacy, SJG Consumer Protection Inc. will officially open in August 2008. President Shane Glaister says he has a vision of a consumer agency that takes the best of what the Better Business Bureau should have been and combines it with a scoring system like a credit bureau. People will be able to access SJG Consumer Protection’s web page to review various companies as well as post about their own experience; the company will also be invited to respond. Shane says, “Giving the consumer a place to discuss their experience and the vendor a chance to respond coupled with a vendor scoring system will give potential consumers a true solid picture of the company they are considering doing business with.” When asked what makes this company unique Shane said “Well several things, but first on the list is we do not accept money from consumers or from any company selling products, we will be strictly funded by grants and contributions from private foundations that support consumer advocacy. This will allow us to remain neutral and uninfluenced by big business. ”
Plans include offering mediation, and legal services.
Areas that the company will cover will include Consumer Issues, Credit and Collection Issues, Employment Issues and Business Consumer issues.
