Bellevue, WA – H.D. Fowler Company, a 90 year old, family owned distributor of waterworks, irrigation pump and wastewater equipment in the Pacific Northwest had a logistics issue. Rick Divers, Vice President of Operations for H.D. Fowler, describes the problem: “We could quickly load most of our pipes onto flat bed trucks. But, four out of five days a week we have mixed loads.

We would spend a good portion of every morning determining how to fit the different sized pipes on the flat bed along with fire hydrants, valves, pipes, concrete meter boxes and a variety of other components. It was a big hassle. These mixed loads only accounted for about ten percent of our daily deliveries, but loading them delayed all of our deliveries which translated into lost revenue.”

Now H.D. Fowler loads mixed products onto one flat bed body at their yard while a second body is with the truck delivering their product.

While the first body is with the truck making deliveries we preload mixed products onto the second body at our facility.
