Historic Special Fund is Established for European Fencing Championship
Special prize of 250,000EUR is put in place for the European Championship for the first time in the history of fencing!

The President of the European Confederation of Fencing (ECF) and the International Charity Fund “For Future of Fencing”, Alisher Usmanov recently established a special prize fund for the European Championship. This is the first time ever in the realm of fencing to see such a prize. The prize fund is valued at 250,000EUR.
“The innovation is considered by the society as an historical event since such an amount has never been seen before,” remarks Alisher Usmanov, president of both the ECF and the Russian Fencing Federation. “The initiative of a high prize fund for the European Championship will change the level of modern fencing and brings forth a new stage in fencing development.”
Usmanov possesses a deep passion for fencing. He was a fencer in the past and can empathize with the challenges and accomplishments faced by fencers throughout the world. Mr. Usmanov is one of the founders of the International Charity Fund “For Future of Fencing” and he is held in high regard by the fencers, fencing coaches, and representatives of national fencing federations around the globe.
The EFC is responsible for facilitating international popularization of fencing and strives to raise the sport to a higher level worldwide.
