(Free-Press-Release.com) August 19, 2008 -- (NEW YORK CITY) As most parents can attest, once rules are set, children will constantly push the boundaries of those rules. That’s one lesson Archibald Mouse learns the hard way in Sylvia Lieberman’s children’s book. Archibald’s Swiss Cheese Mountain (named “Best Children’s Book 2008” at the Hollywood Book Festival) —the story of a cute mouse getting his first taste of independence as Momma Mouse allows him to venture out of their mouse hole and into a grocery store to forage for food.

Archibald mouse soon discovers a towering hunk of cheese and dreams of becoming the King of Swiss Cheese Mountain, but his mother warns him that what seems easy is not always the most desirable. Archibald ignores her advice, finds himself in several predicaments, and ultimately appreciates the wisdom behind Momma’s teachings.

As stated in the Foreword, “Just as Archibald learns how to make his way in the world, overcoming obstacles and fears, this book teaches children that they, too, have the power within to master whatever challenges life puts in their path…in order to reach their ‘cheese’.”

Archibald isn’t the only one who has had to overcome challenges. Lieberman wrote Archibald’s Swiss Cheese Mountain over 25 years ago when she took a course entitled “Writing for the Juvenile Reader.” The professor had written across the top of the manuscript, “This is publishable material.” However, her father’s sudden death condemned the manuscript to a drawer until Sylvia rediscovered it while searching for a good book to read to her new granddaughter. Her daughter and granddaughter championed the book until it found its home with Seven Locks Press.

Sylvia Lieberman (‘Grandma Sylvia’) is a native New Yorker who has long been devoted to nurturing and educating children. A perpetual student, Lieberman has taken courses in such subjects as children’s literature, journalism, voice-over technique, script writing, fashion writing and film seminars at The New School and New York University. After raising her daughter, now media psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman, she was a docent at the Museum of Natural History, guiding groups of school children around the exhibits. She also volunteered at the YMCA, teaching kids about topics such as immigration and family values. A portion of the proceeds from Archibald’s Swiss Cheese Mountain goes to Feed The Children and Variety: The Children’s Charity.
