FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 24, 2008 --
Boca Raton (PRNews) – August 25, 2008 The Art Walk at Mizner Park has long been a celebrated event hosted by The Artists’ Guild to the art loving community of Boca Raton.
Held every last Wednesday of the month, the artists gather their easels and canvasses and display their masterpieces along side the many shops of Mizner Park. The merchants also join in to celebrate this event by offering discounts to passersby strolling along to enjoy a delightful evening of viewing art, wine tasting, music, browsing the shops, or dinner at one of Mizner Park’s premium restaurants. However, this month’s Art Walk held on August 27th this Wednesday evening may be final, as the Artists’ Guild a non-profit auxiliary struggles to find a permanent home.
Beginning October 2008, The Artists’ Guild of Boca Raton, its Images Gallery and all of its 445 artists and Members will be homeless. Officially receiving their 60 day notice beginning in August, The Guild is required to vacate their current temporary space held at Mizner Park that is now causing an urgent time constraint on relocation. The Artists’ Guild was hoping to move into the new Mizner Park Cultural Building, formally the Cartoon Museum, as a permanent home. This opportunity is becoming far reached as the new building faces various construction and code issues. The loss of this space also means the loss of the build-out grant for the Guild’s new gallery. The Artists’ Guild urgently needs assistance from the community to secure a real home in order to continue presenting high caliber exhibitions of original fine art by South Florida artists, as it has done for over 50 years. With less than 60 days left on their lease, the artists are struggling to remain optimistic waiting to see if the community and City supporters will unite to give assistance to preserve this 54 year old organization, whose immense contribution has molded the very downtown art district in the City of Boca Raton, including the formation of The Boca Raton Museum of Art.
The Artists’ Guild will wholeheartedly continue to support the many gifted artists of South Florida who are exhibiting at their “The Images Gallery”, in Mizner Park, promoting some of the Guild’s art events that are free to the public’ such as the “Boca Raton Festival Days 23rd Annual Art Exhibition”, “Biennial Art Exhibition” the “Boca High School Art Exhibit” and of course the “Art Walk at Mizner Park”. So come out and show your support for The Artists’ Guild for their possible final Art Walk with some of the best artists of South Florida.
