Social Networking For The Retired

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 29, 2008 -- Retired computer engineer Alan Simonds felt that with the growing number of social networking sites it was time there was one which was focused on senior citizens. The internet is not just for the young, but for everyone. Alan used to teach computing skills to adults at a college in the UK and says "Many of the people who attended the courses were retired. They came from a wide variety of backgrounds, but the one thing they had in common was the desire to learn more about computing and in particular about using the internet".

At the moment in the UK alone, 11,561,500 people are of retirement age – 19 per cent of the population. In fact, there are now more pensioners in the UK than children under 16. Many people who are either retired or are thinking of retiring are unsure of what to do with the freedom they now have.

This site offers senior citizens the opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, talk about their hobbies and interests, or just socialise with others who are in the same age group.
