Doctor Kenneth Snell cautions against relying on fertility drugs
Australian fertility specialist Dr Kenneth Snell cautions couples with fertility problems not to rely solely on fertility drugs taken over just one menstrual cycle when trying to achieve pregnancy.

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 31, 2008 --
Australian fertility specialist Dr Kenneth Snell cautions couples with fertility problems not to rely solely on fertility drugs taken over just one menstrual cycle when trying to achieve pregnancy.
“Although that is the most common procedure offered by in vitro fertilization doctors in most countries,” he warns, “it is prone somewhat to failure and harmful side effects.”
Dr Snell recommends instead that patients should relax and prepare for in vitro fertilization (IVF) over several menstrual cycles with natural Chinese medicines and acupuncture.
“By treating patients with traditional natural Chinese medicines and acupuncture for up to five months before IVF,” he says, “I have helped achieve an 87 per cent success rate for live births with pregnancies.”
He says his rate of 87 per cent compares favourably with typical rates of less than 40 per cent for most IVF programs.
Dr Snell, who is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, operates the Acupuncture IVF and Fertility Clinic in the Sydney suburb of Chatswood. He is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.
"Chinese medicine is taken over more than one cycle usually," he says.
“Western medicine tries to achieve a result within one cycle,” he says, “though a lot of women fail their IVF cycles and return for multiple IVF treatments unsuccessfully.
“So in the long run, Chinese medicine taken over a few cycles is usually quicker and more effective," he says. “It also requires fewer doses of IVF drugs which often have harmful and long lasting side effects.
"Heavy drug intake over one cycle usually produces many side effects," he says "That goes against Chinese medicine theory and treatment principles."
Dr Snell says, “I achieve outstanding results when my patients use the two treatments together, natural Chinese medicine and acupuncture with IVF. Most women who have been through multiple IVF procedures usually fall pregnant naturally after being on my program for approximately five months.
“Patients using only IVF drugs are much less successful than those using the two treatments together,” he says.
He says natural Chinese medicine with acupuncture not only facilitates IVF drug treatments but also facilitates IVF surgery and other medical fertility treatments.
“Chinese medicines are quite safe,” he says, “even though most fertility doctors world-wide oppose using Chinese medicines with IVF drugs.”
“Their opposition may to some extent be the result of propaganda from global drug manufacturers,” he says.
“Although many IVF specialists are scared that combining Chinese medicine with IVF drugs will have unknown reactions or do harm,” he says, “there is plenty of research showing that it is possible to combine them without any harmful side effects.”
“I have proven with controlled studies which I have conducted with the cooperation of patients at my clinic over recent years, that these natural medicines are not only safe but facilitate a much higher success rate for in vitro fertilisation.”
Results of Dr Snell’s studies have been published in several medical and health publications around the world during recent weeks.
“Chinese medicine is safe and natural and has no side effects,” he says. “Its good effects are greatly enhanced when combined with acupuncture.”
”Chinese medicine is the main form of fertility treatment in my clinic. Acupuncture is always used as a secondary treatment to increase the effects produced by Chinese medicine,” he says.
“Our specialised treatment programs are effectively used to enhance fertility.
“We treat simple hormonal imbalances to more debilitating kinds of gynaecological problems which prevent women from conceiving,” he says.
He administers natural Chinese medicine and acupuncture to a woman for three to five months all the way up to when the embryo is transferred into her uterus.
After the transfer, he administers different natural Chinese medicines and more acupuncture to prevent threatened abortion and miscarriage.
“This medicine facilitates easier transfer of the embryo into the uterus by dilating the cervical opening, nourishes the embryo facilitating embryo growth, prevents uterine contractions, prevents bleeding and holds the embryo in place,” he says.
In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a medical process in which a woman's egg cells are fertilised by sperm outside of her womb. This process involves hormonally controlling ovulation, removing eggs from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a fluid. A fertilised egg is then transferred to the uterus in an attempt to achieve pregnancy.
