AMOUR ELLIOTT-SETTER: THE FULL MIDDLE EAST STORY
Filmmaker Amour Elliott-Setter tells the full story of her imprisonment in the Middle East
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 4, 2008 --
On the 1st July 2007 South African filmmaker Amour Elliott-Setter relocated to the Middle East with her young family to open a film school with a Bahraini business partner. After numerous attempts to get him to commit to their agreements with no luck, she left his company to pursue a partnership with someone else, taking all her film equipment with her. Two weeks later she and her 20 year old daughter were arrested and imprisoned for 7 days on charges of so-called expired visas despite there being an Immigration Amnesty on the island. The women suffered abuses and trauma in the Hidd prison in Bahrain before being deported back to South Africa. All her film equipment, personal belongings and animals were left behind in the country and her former would-be partner had her blacklisted from ever returning to the country again. Her second business partner is still trying to get the blacklist lifted to enable her to return to the country to work with him making films. Since returning back to South Africa in August 2007, Amour has suffered irreparable defamation by people who embarked on a very damaging smear campaign against her from Bahrain, in an attempt to discredit her. She has decided to tell her side of the story. Visit her website: www.tef.co.za for the full story.
Amour currently runs an independent film school in South Africa and just completed writing a script for a feature film which she is planning to direct in early 2008.
