(Huntsville AL) New York Times #1 bestselling author Homer Hickam, universally known for his classic memoir ROCKET BOYS (which became the major motion picture OCTOBER SKY starring Jake Gyllenhaal) has expressed interest in helping to write the memoir of Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

“After watching Governor Palin’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, I’m convinced her story is one the entire country…and the whole world…wants to hear,” said Hickam from his Huntsville, Alabama home.


Hickam recently completed work on the memoir of Anousheh Ansari, the self made multi-millionaire Iranian-American who became the first Iranian in space, as well as the first self-funded woman to fly to the International Space Station in 2006. That book is slated for release in 2009.

Hickam added, “Governor Palin’s unique life story that has taken her from being a small town Alaskan woman to now a new force in the American political system is sure to inspire millions of people the world over.
