On October 3-5, 2008, hundreds of gamers will converge on the Mid-America Center for Nuke-Con 2008, the non-for-profit’s 18th annual convention. While there, they will play games, network, socialize, and raise money to help fight Cystic Fibrosis.
Nuke-Con is teaming up with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Iowa Chapter to hold a raffle and auction to raise money to fight the number 1 genetic killer of children.
At previous Nuke-Con Conventions, Gamers raised over $1500 to help CFF research.

Information on Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and why they fight for a cure…
Money magazine rates the CFF in their top 10 Charities as OVER 91 cents of every dollar goes directly to medical research to fight the disease.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic killer of children. CF causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus, due to the faulty transport of sodium and chloride (salt) within cells lining organs such as the lungs and pancreas, covering their outer surfaces. The thick CF mucus also obstructs the pancreas, preventing enzymes from reaching the intestines to help break down and digest food.
The mucus literally chokes off the child's ability to breathe and eat and must be loosed by violently shaking their bodies with concussion vests. The thick mucus is also a breeding ground for infection that constantly threatens these children's lives.
