Rick Hendrick Chevrolet Has E85-Flexible Chevrolet Models at its Dealership.

This fuel, comprising 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, is seen as a practical alternative to gasoline. The prime reason for this is that Ethanol, the major component of this fuel, is produced out of corn that is grown in huge quantities in the US. Additionally, this fuel is mostly renewable.

For this year, Chevrolet has released around 12 different models that have E85- flexible engines. This is a prelude to meeting General Motors’ goal of making half of all its annual vehicle production E85 or bio-diesel capable by 2012.

General Motors says that it is the frontrunner in the race to convert vehicles with alternative fuels. It says it is ahead of any other car manufacturer in the country in this step. As of now, there are around 2.5 million flex-fuel General Motors vehicles on the roads. These are GM’s vehicles with flex-fuels, and their EPA-estimated mileage:

• Cobalt XFE Sedan: 36 mpg;
• Aveo 5: 34 mpg;
• Aveo Sedan: 34 mpg;
• Malibu Hybrid: 32 mpg;
• Malibu LTZ: 32 mpg;
• HHR: 30 mpg;

• HHR Panel: 30 mpg;
• Impala: 29 mpg;
• Tahoe Hybrid 2WD: 22 mpg;
• Tahoe 2WD: 20 mpg and
• Silverado 1500: 20 mpg.
