September 20, 2008

(Pacific Press) September 2008 “Warning: Handle with care. Contents contain pieces of a human heart”. At the centre of every human being lies The Heart, a delicate measure for human existence.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 20, 2008 -- Sha Raaven has self-published her first book, a collection of free-verse poetry entitled ‘Blue Mist White Rain’. The book will be released in October 2008. In this deeply personal collection, she explores the depths, peaks, valleys and meadows of the vital organ we call the heart. Sha is willing to let us into her heart and her head, allowing the reader to share her joys and her pains. This work ponders the question, ‘Do we love with our hearts or with our heads? ‘

This collection contains poems, carefully sculpted into 7 chapters, each inviting you along for a panoramic view of her world; a world where the joys of love and living are gently probed, often with child-like abandon, but with the curiosity of the adult mind to courageously look beyond the surface of pain.

She begins the exploration of the heart with ‘Heart’, where the joys of love and loving are gently probed, often with child-like abandon. There are journeys of awakening through her own eyes, and through the eyes of others as she reveals her walks with them, if only for a day. In ‘Heart’, reasoning, inquisition and observation are her only doctrines.

The journey continues with ‘The Walk’, where her thoughts are left to their own abandon and vision steps to restore order. There are statements of character and ‘unwritten’ contracts with herself and her world. She wears these insights as her insignia.

‘A brass sun shines on empty hats; those who have no will to act’. In the next chapter titled ‘Watercolours’ she steps into a daring adventurous life, one filled with exploration, discovery and dexterity. She paints colours of the walls around her, the smells of her environment, and the tone of those with whom she interacts. These interludes are elegiac as she is enthralled in the moment with her eyes and her heart.

‘Blood’ steps into the murky waters of ancestry, history, and integration of understanding. She observes from an armchair view, remote in one hand, scrutiny in the other. This is where the heart relies heavily on the mind for patience, discernment and forgiveness.

A brave step into the depths of the heart is ‘Broken’, where she takes full responsibility for herself, and courageously looks beyond the surface of pain. This time, the destination is to see clearly, as the heart remains disconsolate. She surmises in one sentence a volume of observation: ‘How thoughtless of you to put on airs, whilst I was still breathing’.

In ‘Pieces’, Sha has designs on others’ will to act, and dresses up her thoughts with immodest invitation to ‘think about it.’ Through ‘Thought’ she ponders the perplexity of time: ‘Fraction of time spent; Mind manoeuvring through alley ways; some gutter balls’.

‘Backdrops’ is a sentimental odyssey of friendships past, at times ecstatic; at times musing.
After this exploratory walk with a panoramic view into the mind of a woman who sees, feels and breathes with her heart, Sha takes her own experiences and those of others and captures a snapshot of her loves in this life.

‘Blue Mist White Rain’ contains 92 poems.

This is Raaven’s first collection. She will be touring and performing her poems live throughout London and the United States and signing copies of her book.
