August 21st 2008 was a momentous occasion for three of Houston’s finest. Multi-Platinum artist and producer Mike Jones, DJ Kutz, and tastemaker Derrick Banes signed an endorsement deal worth a reported 2.1 million dollars with upstart Dobbe’ Cognac. With stock and residuals, the deal could possibly be worth $26 million. “It’s a great day for Dobbe,’ Mike Jones, and Houston. I am very excited about the entire situation and the monetary potential of the deal. Plus, it actually allows me to help out the community through my (Mike Jones Foundation). A percentage of every sale is donated to my charity. So yeah, it’s a good day to be the President, you feel me!” he states with a laugh. Derrick Banes and Christopher “DJ Kutz” White are also both very ecstatic about the deal. They both agree that this is the beginning of a very bright future in the marketing and promotion business. “The deal sets up our financial future in a very lovely way,” Mr. White adds. “The day we received our stock certificates marked the beginning of a fruitful relationship for all of the parties involved,” states Mr. Banes. Promotions will involve a series of mixtapes and commercials produced by DJ Kutz. This deal comes right on time for DJ Kutz as the young entrepreneur has another deal involving business partner Michael Oronde Wright, of Next Wright Marketing & Promotions, for the two are setting up their own entertainment and media company, Damage Kontrol Entertainment. The company’s first two projects for 2009 will be a total utilization of this eras digital download system releasing an urban DVD magazine series entitled “The Block Report” and the companies first EP entitled “Killa Broccoli” featuring Mike Jones, Kool Rod, SIE, and a host of other artist. They have release two singles already entitled “Beat Steady Knockin” featuring Kool Rod and Mike Jones and “Do It Again” featuring up and coming R&B singer SIE.
