A Disaster-Response Plan Is Not Enough For Small Business Owners

September 30, 2008

ActionCOACH Business Coaches are helping small-to-medium sized businesses achieve success by devising winning game plans – and keeping them accountable to their goals.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 30, 2008 -- Recent floods in the Midwest and hurricanes as well as tropical storms in Texas and Florida have cost people millions of dollars in damage. ActionCOACH founder and CEO Brad Sugars believes that the recurrence of these events and the vulnerability people face during these natural disasters serve as reminders for businesses to have a disaster-response plan in place.

The recent string of disasters has adversely impacted many small and medium sized businesses that often have limited capital and resources – making them even more susceptible to these calamities. It is no wonder then that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is one of the partners participating in this fifth annual National Preparedness Month – an initiative that urges homeowners, renters and businesses to plan before disaster strikes.

ActionCOACH – the number one business coaching firm in the world helps the owners of small and medium sized businesses thrive and prosper. ActionCOACH Business Coaches are experts in all areas of operating a business and equip their clients with proven systems, tools, methodologies and strategies that potentially help them resurface – in case of any eventuality - in a relatively easy and smooth manner.

“Clients who use the services of our Business Coaches are found to be more prepared to face these massive disasters. At ActionCOACH, we believe in being proactive as much as possible,” Sugars said. “While it is impossible to prevent these natural disasters - it is possible to install proven, effective systems into the business – as this can help small businesses cope better during such events.”

According to the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Senator Kerry criticized the disaster loan program and said it needs to be reformed so that the SBA has the tools needed to provide short-term aid and assist in long-term economic recovery.

Sugars believes that business owners cannot just rely on government aid, and must take responsibility to prepare a solid plan so they can get out of these disasters with the least amount of delay.

“You have to do everything in your control to stay prepared to face these disasters – so you can move on as quickly as possible,” Sugars said. “For our clients at ActionCOACH, being prepared is much more than having a disaster-response plan in place; it is also about having effective and proven systems, tools and practices on a daily basis.”

Sugars believes that people tend to look at disaster preparation from a narrow view.

“While it is important to learn our lessons from the ‘Katrinas’ and ‘Ike’s’ of the world, it is also important to learn how having the expertise of a Business Coach can help make small businesses much more resilient in the long run- in the event of any type of crisis or disaster.”

ActionCOACH is the world’s number one business coaching firm, with more than 1,000 offices in 26 countries. To learn more about business coaching and ActionCOACH, go to actioncoach.com
