Leesburg, VA… The Loudoun Convention & Visitors Association (LCVA) today announced that it has won the Virginia Tourism Corporation “Passionate about Spreading the Word” award for its recent community awareness program. Alisa Bailey, President of Virginia Tourism Corporation, presented the award to Cheryl Kilday, LCVA President & CEO at the recent VA-1 Conference in Roanoke, Virginia.
“Cheryl Kilday and the staff of the Loudoun Convention & Visitors Association have done an outstanding job of marketing the Loudoun area not only to outside visitors but to local residents as well, “said Alisa Bailey, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. “They are an integral part of the greater tourism team of Virginia and we are very proud to have them as a partner in marketing Virginia.”
One of the objectives of the LCVA’s community awareness campaign was to inform Loudoun’s residents and businesses of the benefits of tourism to their quality of life and the local economy. Another objective was to introduce residents to the LCVA, so that they could utilize services to help increase visitation through visiting friends and relatives, as well as meetings and events.
Key messages that communicated the LCVA's mission and successes were incorporated into a direct mail campaign that targetted every household in the County. These messages included "Tourism Works for You" and "Loudoun County Thrives On Tourism" and “Loudoun County: Where We Meet”. Three 6” x 9” four-page, four-color mailings with Loudoun scenes were sent to 110,000 Loudoun households at regular intervals over a period of four weeks in late spring. A business focus mailing was also sent to 9,100 businesses in Loudoun County.
Additionally, full page four-color print advertisements reflecting the design qualities of the direct mail campaign were placed in seven Loudoun County newspapers over a one month period in late spring to illustrate what Loudoun has to offer and the related services of the LCVA.
All of the above included a call to action to phone the LCVA or visit the LCVA’s website (www.VisitLoudoun.org) for more information and free planning assistance. The response to the campaign has been very positive with increased website traffic and more inquiries at the LCVA’s office.
For more information about the LCVA community awareness campaign, please contact Cheryl Kilday, LCVA President & CEO at 703-771-2170 ext. 15 or kilday@visitloudoun.org.
