QUEER CONTROL RECORDS LADIES HIT THE WEST COAST
October tour features queer label’s female stars

San Francisco, September 28, 2008 — Queer Control Records (QCR) is pleased to announce that 8 Inch Betsy, Pariah Piranha, and Box Squad will be touring the West Coast of the U.S. during the month of October 2008. Beginning in San Francisco on Thursday, October 9, 2008, the “LezFest 2008” Tour will continue to San Jose, the Russian River, Modesto, Palm Desert, Riverside, Las Vegas, and will conclude in Tucson, AZ on Friday, October 17, 2008. See http://www.queercontrol.com for a full listing of tour dates.

8 Inch Betsy is a pop punk all girl trio from Chicago, IL. They are fresh off the release of their debut album “Last Time, This Time, Every Time,” and are currently working on a sophomore album with new drummer Sarah McVicker. Pariah Piranha is an eclectic alternative rock band out of York, PA with a raw and amorphous sound. Singer, songwriter, guitarist, and all-around leading lady, Tara Gordon, is joined by funky, comedic drummer, Andrea Shearer, and ridiculously talented bassist, Tony Garber – known to his label mates as “Ginger Bear,” and the only guy on this tour. Based in San Francisco, Box Squad is a tongue-in-cheek political dykecore trio that’s true to its riot grrl roots. Featuring former members of The Alter Bois and Fabulous Disaster, these ladies are hilariously politically incorrect and an absolute blast on stage.

“QCR is all about bringing life back to queercore and riot grrrl music. A big part of accomplishing that is recognizing that there are still a lot of great queer bands out there that even tend to be better than most of their ‘straight’ counterparts. We want to give these bands an extra boost through our support, because they will ultimately help build up the community of queer music and musicians just by being herd,” described QCR Co-founder and President/CEO Marlene Melendez. “The ‘LezFest 2008’ Tour is the label’s second tour this year and will showcase some of the label’s grrrl-centric talent.”

QCR is an independent non-profit (501c3 status pending) record label for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and questioning (LGBTIQQ) community. Since May 2007, QCR has existed for the purpose of providing charitable assistance to LGBTIQQ musicians. QCR provides support services to and sponsors public performances featuring LGBTIQQ and other musicians.
