Former NBA All-Star, Vin Baker Hits the Comeback Trail.

Bridgeport, CT-Vin Baker of Old Saybrook CT; former No. 1 draft choice (#8 overall) of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1993, who spent 13 years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) is returning to professional basketball.

A 6’11”, 245 lb., power forward, Baker is on the road to redemption and committed to basketball after having been cut from the league in 2006, as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“I am blessed to be where I am right now. As bad as situations were, they could’ve been worse. I’m not happy at all about how I left the game. I let myself and family down, among others.”

Baker, who will turn 36 in November this year, has worked himself back into playing shape with the assistance of a trainer. Working out twice daily, combining strength and cardio routines in the mornings and basketball play in the evenings at the University of Connecticut or his alma mater, the University of Hartford, Baker still feels he has young legs.

Agent Oliver Macklin; Macklin & Lovett Associates, has been in touch with several GM’s in the NBA, Asian and European leagues. Ultimately, Baker hopes to secure a roster spot with an NBA team in need of a hungry, skilled, big man and conclude his career with a positive legacy.

While overcoming and moving beyond his past transgressions, Macklin firmly believes that if it were not for his bout with alcoholism, Baker would still be in the league. Baker credits his sobriety to his foundation: education, therapy, renewed spirituality and solid family support.
