The Detroit rock and roll band Lies Unknown finished first at the 89X “Next Big Thing” Battle of the Bands on Thursday and will be playing The Fillmore Detroit on October 23rd along with the alternative rock/ hip hop group from Colorado, Flobots and Matisyahu, a reggae hip hop group from New York.

The two month long contest finally came to an end when 89X’s Cal Cagno announced Lies Unknown as the winners at the show late Thursday night. With the music and admirers at full volume the group played their favorite songs and united with their fans turning TNT’s bar into the full energy force of the Lies Unknown scene. Fans piled all along the stage and sang and danced as Justin Alexander (vocals and guitar), Sarah Cole (bass and harmony), Jamie Allen (guitar and harmony), and Joe Piazza (drums) rocked out a thirty minute set from their self-titled album released earlier this year. The energy of the band and the fans is so charismatic it is no wonder that bands popularity continues to grow with every show. The TNT’s security had to stand by and redirect several enthusiastic fans as they joined the band on stage. When Lies Unknown finished the last song and was making their way off stage the crowd proceeded with the roaring chant “Lies Unknown, Lies Unknown!” Lies Unknown fans certainly don’t want to miss a show as they know they are guarantied to have a great time.
