FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 13, 2008 -- INDIANAPOLIS (Monday, Oct. 13, 2008) – Central Indiana teachers can win cash, crystal and a three-day, all-expenses-paid trip if named a winner of a Bright House Networks’ national 2009 Star Teacher Award.

Entries are now being accepted. The deadline to enter is March 2, 2009.

For 20 years, Bright House Networks has honored and awarded innovative teachers from throughout the nation who develop creative learning experiences for their students based on quality cable TV programming.

Bright House Networks provides free basic cable service – and high-speed Internet access – to schools within its Indiana service areas, which includes communities within Marion, Hendricks, Hamilton, Boone and Grant counties, through its involvement in Cable in the Classroom. Annually, select Indiana schools each utilize 6,600 hours of commercial-free educational programming at no charge from Bright House Networks.

Ten awards will be given by Bright House Networks this year. Teachers can enter individually or as a team of up to three teachers. Individuals will win a $1,000 cash prize, a Tiffany Crystal award and a three-day, all-expenses-paid trip to the Star Teacher Award banquet; teams will share the cash prize. Also, winning teachers’ schools will receive a new laptop computer for their media centers.

“Bright House Networks is committed to youth and the communities we serve throughout Indiana,” said Bright House Networks Indiana president Buz Nesbit. “The Star Teacher award is our way to praise and reward dedicated, hard-working teachers.”

To be eligible for a Star Teacher Award, teachers must demonstrate how they’ve utilized cable TV programming to develop curriculum, cross-curricular studies, classroom-to-community activities and more. Classroom projects must have been taught between September 2008 and February 2009. Teachers must either work or live in a Bright House Networks service area. For questions about Bright House Networks’ service areas in Indiana, call Brooke Krodel at (317) 632-9077, Ext. 272.

All entries for a 2009 Star Teacher Award must include a completed application form that is available online at www.mybrighthouse.com/teachers, an 8.5” X 11” project binder and all support materials.
