Money, Power, Respect! The global influence of Hip-hop culture...do we know our power?

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 15, 2008 -- Hip-Hop is the continuation of the African Americans’ forward movement through history toward self-embetterment. Born from the peaceful agreement of inner city Black youths to stop hating each other and love themselves. Hip-hop is the love child of the Black Power movement. It is our vehicle of self expression, where mantras of self-empowerment are expressed freely, where we speak to each other, teach our children, and critique ourselves. Hip-Hop is the dream realized.

Now 30 years later Hip hop, or should I say us “Young, Gifted, and Black” souls hold the eyes and ears of the global community at our fingertips, we harness the creative power of change, yet, we CHOOSE to trade our power for wooden nickels. Why instead of drinking from the water do we turn around and stick our behinds in it? Do we really know our power or are we just selling ourselves out? These and other topics will be discussed during the 2nd annual Neo-Righteous Hip-Hop forum.
